Small groups
are an important part of our life together. Meeting with
others
regularly we get a better grasp of Christian truth and the chance to
put it into practice in real live relationships. Each group
has
its own character and aims. For more information call the
office
at any time.
Prayer meetings:
Missions overseas have been supported by this church since New Zealand Baptists began sending missionaries. The Baptist Missionary Fellowship group meet to pray, raise funds, and stay in touch with our missionaries, in the church lounge on the second Wednesday of each month, at 10.00 a.m. Fourth
Sunday of each month is Missions Sunday. For a short time
after the service in the church lounge, we have a mission speaker or
activity followed by a shared lunch. The Thames Christian Bookshop
is owned by one of our trusts and run largely on volunteer
time.
It stocks a good range of bibles, literature, music, greeting cards,
and gifts. Check it out at 732 Pollen St., or get them to
order
your purchases by calling them on (07) 8689115 or emailing them at thameschristianbooks@xtra.co.nz. The Church is Governed by
the members who meet three or more times each year. They
delegate
authority to the church council made up of the pastors, deacons,
elders, and trust chairs. The council consults widely amongst
other leaders in its decision-making. Brian
and Zoe Kenning came from Invercargill Central Baptist after Brian
retired. They are doing an interim ministry with us while we are
seeking a new pastor. They are being very much appreciated. Links These
